Ella Rubinstein has a husband, three children, and a pleasant home — everything that should make her happy. Yet something is missing. When she reads a manuscript about the thirteenth-century Sufi poet Rumi and his transformative bond with the wandering dervish Shams of Tabriz, she finds herself drawn into a parallel journey of her own. Weaving together two love stories across eight centuries, The Forty Rules of Love is Elif Shafak's most celebrated novel — a magical meditation on faith, longing, and the power of love to change us completely. A BBC '100 Novels That Shaped the World' selection.
